Waiting on the bees….

It is finally starting to feel like spring here in Pennsylvania, with warm temperatures melting the last bits of snow. We have not seen any bumblebee queens yet, but we were excited to see some of the first flowers and other bee species this weekend!

Purple deadnettle is a type of mint that you can find a number of different bees on.

We didn’t see any visitors today to this beautiful flower from the genus Anemone...

Can you spot the bee in this picture? An early-emerging solitary bee was moving quickly through this patch of chickweed.

For receiving the ISCE and the Ag college travel awards to present his work in the International Conference of Chemical Ecology that will be held this June in Atlanta. Nathan will present his research on the Chemical characterization and behavioral responses to Dufour’s gland esters in Bombus impatiens. Stay tuned!
